RED ARROW FREIGHT LINE, CHERRYVILLE, NC
In 1926, L.B.Brown started hauling cotton between Robstown and Corpus Christi. By 1927, he
borrowed $298.00 from his mother and purchased his second truck.
A year later, Brown purchased Moody Freight Lines and got away from hauling cotton and starting
hauling general commodities. He named his new company Red Arrow Freight Lines.
In 1934, L.B. and his brother divided the company by drawing a line on the loading dock and asking
the employees to choose whether to stay with L.B. and Red Arrow, or cross the line and go with Harry.
Red Arrow continued to grow hauling general commodities, liquor, and explosives over 7500 route
miles to more than 560 Texas cities. The company owned 39 Texas terminals and call stations and
operated substantial import-export service at Houston, Corpus Christi, and Brownsville ports.
