Tips on Trading Tractors
Looking for ways to save money when trading tractors? Here’s a tip from a larger midwestern truck dealer. He
says, “We can spend thousands of dollars on a trade-in and make profit on our investment. There is always a
market for clean used trucks in good condition. And we allow a premium for trade-ins that require little renewal
work in our shops.”
Moral of the story, of course, is that the truck owner who keeps his tractor in good mechanical condition –
spending a few dollars and some elbow grease to improve appearance before trading, stands to be repaid
handsomely. A fresh coat of paint and a thorough clean-up job on the interior may even improve chances of
selling the used rig outright for a premium over trade-in price.
