The "setup"

The "setup" theft is a common method used by criminals and generally
happens when an employee allows equipment or cargo to be removed for a
share in the sale, or when he gets free for "fingering."

Another method is the "$500 cup of coffee" referred to by drivers who
allow their rigs to be stolen while they remain in the restaurant for
a second cup of coffee.  When a driver returns to the location of his
rig, he expresses great surprise that it has been stolen.  He receives
his payoff from the thieves later, and quite frequently it is less
than the promised $500.  He may feel cheated, but there is little he
can do without admitting his part in the theft.

Truck experts feel employees make easy marks for being talked into
