SUPER SERVICE MOTOR FREIGHT, NASHVILLE, TN

Started in 1930 by A.B. Crichton, Sr., Super Service would remain and grow with the Crichton family for the next
27 years. Revenues soared from $1.6 million in 1946 to $9.4 million in 1953.

Super Service was an LTL and TL carrier connecting the southern states with the east. Terminals were located
in New York, South Kearney, NJ, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Chattanooga, Nashville, Knoxville, and Rome, GA.

Super Service realized that in order to continue its rapid growth, it was necessary to find a tractor that had the
power to get over the Tennessee hills at 35 miles per hour, instead of the 15 miles per hour average.

Since no such tractor existed at the time, Super Service and the White Motor Company created a light-weight
diesel with high power and a straight cab design which allowed the use of a 35 foot square nose trailer.

The White WC-24TD powered by a Cummins 200 HP diesel engine was the result. This may have been the most
powerful tractor for its size and weight in the nation.
