For maintenance people trying desperately to keep the trucks running,
inept drivers can be frustrating. Nowhere is this more evident than
in businesses where drivers are selected for sales abilities rather
than driving skills.
It is good for maintenance managers to conduct their own training
program for new hires. When a new driver/salesman is hired, the
maintenance chief should ride with him a few days to point out
fundamentals. Proper use of the truck is so very important for a
smooth running shop.
So remember, education through training can help save major dollars
down the road.
